HAPPY ANNIVERSARY
*
ONE YEAR LATER
by Al Doyle
With the recent first anniversary of the one-man/one-woman marriage amendment in Wisconsin, it's an appropriate time to look back at the events of 2006 as well as what may happen in the future.
After 20 consecutive ballot defeats in other states, the pro-sodomy side pushed hard to break the losing streak in Wisconsin. Cheeseland's well-deserved reputation for left-leaning politics combined with a hefty war chest (estimates range from $5 million to $8 million spent during the campaign) and much pro-queer cheerleading from the mainstream media certainly helped the homo cause.
That broad and not easy to define group known as "Bible-believing Christians" was officially designated as the main opposition. While the media likes to portray this segment of the populace as a united coalition, nothing could be further from the truth. Fundamentalists have little in common - especially in doctrine - with tongues-speaking charismatics, but that's not how the media describes the situation.
Even though it may not have been possible to get this widely varying batch of citizens to work totally in concert, there was nothing to prevent people from working within their own circles to promote the marriage amendment. While a fair number of Christians were diligent and did their duty like godly men and women, the vast majority sleepwalked and cowered through Wisconsin's ultimate high stakes moral showdown.
Even though some might trot out the lame excuse of "No one told me", anyone who wasn't living in a cave 50 miles beyond an Amish village was inundated with secular and Christian media coverage about the marriage amendment. Talk shows, TV news segments and newspaper accounts buzzed for months before the election. Unless you were on extended sabbatical in rural Mongolia, there was no way not to hear about the amendment battle.
Recognizing what was at stake, Wisconsin Marriage Defenders laid out a plan to cover as much of the state as possible with the excellent tract Homosexuality: The Truth. In addition to educating the public about the perverted reality of sodomy, the tract includes a clear salvation message.
Our plan was ambitious, but definitely realistic. We were able to distribute close to 15,000 pieces of literature in 14 different cities and small towns. More than half of that total was pumped into Oshkosh, which (like many university towns) has an active nest of perversion promoters and justifiers.
While we were glad to accomplish much of our goal, a number of towns that were on our list never received a lit drop. Why did this happen? A lack of help from the spineless.
Our technique is very simple. An 8-year old could do it, and a few hours of lit dropping by a small team is sufficient to make a major impact in a town. We needed help (as in a Saturday morning of volunteering) to reach our goal, but much of the Christian community didn't have the guts to take a modest stand against those who would gladly turn their children into sexual deviants.
If that's not the reason, maybe they didn't want to give up a few hours of golfing time. While it's possible that others were engaged in this kind of effort, we never ran across anyone duplicating our work. No one ever told us of a similar lit drop aside from a group that put out a superficial and almost indecisive flyer of their own.
Considering what was at stake, the response against the sodomites was weak and insufficient. If there was ever a time for Christians to react with the fury of an enraged pit bull, the marriage amendment campaign was that moment in history. This is not a knock against those who did the right thing (you know who you are). The numerous spiritual pacifists can respond with the usual whining, weak excuses and cliches.
While many marriage supporters may have rejoiced over the 59.4 percent margin of victory, it certainly could have been better. A more proactive approach could have boosted that number to 65 percent and led to greater discouragement on the homosexual side.
The very misnamed Fair Wisconsin - a well-known sodomite advocacy group - licked their wounds and slithered back to their holes for awhile after the election, but they certainly haven't quit promoting their depraved agenda. If you don't believe me, just visit FW's weekly meeting each Wednesday night at the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh. I'm sure UWO isn't the only campus in the state to receive regular doses of Fair Wisconsin's toxic brew.
An urgent message to the perpetually complacent: 50 percent plus a few votes in the future won't mean victory. If the real margin is 52 or 53 percent, you can bet the ranch that the homosexual side will engage in wholesale vote fraud. Every dead sodomite from here to San Francisco will end up "voting" several times wherever a referendum is held. These kind of games happen with some regularity in America.
As much as I've rebuked sleepy church members, they are merely the symptom of the deadly disease of apathy and terminal reality avoidance. Let's get to the real problem.
Christians tend to follow and emulate the lead of their pastors, and that explains the widespread timidity of the modern church. For the most part, fundamental, evangelical and charismatic pastors are in desperate need of a spinal implant.
We contacted a number of pastors in other like-minded churches. One pastor provided help with our lit drops. Most of the rest even lacked the basic manners to respond and let us know that they weren't interested. In some ways, these cowering pharisees are more effeminate than the homosexuals who hate them and want to see their churches shut down for good.
As wickedness continues to assault the nation on all fronts, it's obvious that America needs revival. That won't happen as long as America's pulpits are filled with Barney Fife impersonators who whimper mealy-mouthed sermonettes in exchange for their 501(c)3 government licenses.
