    Of course this article is inane and incoherent, but that's besides the point.

    Teno, I am so sorry. I really am. The world must be a horrifying place for you right now. I mean, really. A lot is changing, and you probably feel as if you are one of the last guys standing, fighting for the old way, what you believe was a better way, the way things "used" to be, before godless heathens came around and mucked it up for good, upstanding Christians such as yourself. I see it in your online presence, your frequent invocation of that tired adage "I told you so". You really, truly believe that the world is falling apart, and you, Teno Groppi, are one of the reasons why it hasn't all gone to Hell completely.

    You see yourself as important. We would all like to feel that, to feel like if we weren't around, the world would stop spinning on its axis. We all have moments of self-aggrandizement, Teno. We all want to feel like we matter.

    I'm here to tell you that you don't, Teno. You don't matter. I'm telling you this because somebody has to.

    You have a wife and children, and you are definitely important to them. I will not for a second imply otherwise.

    I'm talking about everything else. I'm talking about your endless fixation on conspiracies, on the "New World Order", on the forces of evil that in your mind seem to be banding together against all of the Good Christians of the world. They don't exist. I promise you, they don't. There is nobody pulling all the strings, no secret cabal of bankers or businessmen or Jews or whatever. There's just the world as it is.

    I get why you and your friends in these internet forums, these dimly lit rooms, these self-servicing echo chambers feel this way. You're scared. Just like the rest of us, you're scared that bad things happen, seemingly at random. A man walks into a school and shoots two dozen school children. Two planes crash into tall buildings in New York City, diminishing them and the thousands of souls trapped inside to dust. It's astonishing that these senseless acts of violence and mayhem can just...happen.

    So what do you do? You search for clues, you breathlessly scour through videos, photographs, audio tapes, through interviews, press conferences, and pop culture, pointing at something, anything that to you proves the REAL truth, that everybody else has got it wrong, that you have the answer, if only they'll listen to you.

    This makes you feel important. This hunt for "truth". You feel dangerous. You feel like your existence has been vindicated because this is what you do with it. You're one of the good guys, and this world couldn't keep spinning without people like you. And when you "expose" it, people thank you. They tell you you're doing God's work.

    There is no conspiracy, Teno. Nobody is out to get you. Nobody is out to up-end your way of life. And you haven't exposed a damn thing. It's all just the paranoid ramblings of a guy who feels that somehow, if there was just one giant evil conspiracy, carrying out all of the bad in the world, that would kinda be easier to handle, because at least you would have an answer. Everything wouldn't seem so chaotic. Everything would have an explanation. And you matter because you have witnessed to others that explanation.

    The hard truth is that there isn't always an explanation. Bad things happen to good people, often for no reason at all. You know this because I'm sure you've had bad things happen to you and to those you love, and I do actually believe that deep down, you are a good person. You're just misguided.

    You're going to be ok, Teno. You are, I promise. There is no New World Order. There is no Illuminati. One day your Detroit Lions are going to win the Super Bowl. People are going to keep getting vaccinated because vaccines are safe. The constant fighting in the Middle East will end and our government will finally turn its focus to problems we have at home. And you know what? Gay people are going to get more rights in this country, and that's ok, because society being a more open, welcoming place is a good thing. It'll actually make it easier for you to hold your beliefs. The non-paranoid, delusional ones, the ones grounded in love, I mean.

    P.S. That article that The New American linked to was talking about treating pedophiles so they don't attack children, not accepting them as they are. Nobody thinks abusing children is ok. That will never be accepted in our society. It's simply a matter of accepting the reality of the illness and doing what we can to help these people. Same-sex marriage is between two consenting adults. Children can't consent. Nobody serious is suggesting they can. So you know, just to correct that one.
